mrak, handwoven floor mat

mrak, handwoven floor mat
a traditional handwoven floor mat made by artisans in southern Nepal using locally harvested water grass. The intricate braided edge is crafted by only a small number of highly skilled weavers.
smooth yet naturally cushioned, these mats have long been used for sitting, resting, and welcoming guests. Lightweight and durable, they are equally suited for reading, meditation, napping, picnics, or everyday living. When not in use, the mat rolls up easily for compact storage.
over time, the natural green fibers gradually soften to a warm beige, developing a beautiful patina unique to the material.
OBS: can only be shipped in the EU
size: approx. 53 × 210 cm
weight: approx. 2 kg
material: aater grass (cattail family), jute twine
origin: Southern Nepal
care: keep dry and store in a well-ventilated place. If the mat becomes wet, allow it to dry completely before storing. Occasional sun drying helps maintain the fibers. As with all natural materials, slight shedding, variations in color, texture, and size are part of its handmade character.
